Early Years Foundation Stage

The Head Teacher, Deputy Head Teacher, Senior Teacher & Nursery Teachers each have a degree in Early Years Education and a number of years experience in teaching very young children. All three teachers are passionate about learning and teaching and offer a rich curriculum for the children.

Two qualified teachers in the nursery deliver learning experiences for children who are 3 years plus, in an Intergrated Unit and work alongside the Senior Teacher who leads learning. Many of the Early Years Practitioners have gained a Level 4/Level3 NVQ recognised qualification in Childcare, Learning and Development and have many years experience of working with nursery children.


Staff in the setting work with a statutory framework—Early Years Foundation Stage (2008). The Early Years Foundation Stage Principles aim to develop children’s understanding, knowledge attitudes and skills in all areas of learning. The Early Years Foundation Stage focuses on learning, development and care of children from birth to five years


Areas of Learning and Development
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is made up of six areas of Learning and Development. All areas of Learning and Development are connected to one another and are equally important. All areas of Learning and Development are underpinned by the principles of the EYFS.

The Early Years Foundation Stage Framework, uses principle which guide the work of all Teacher and Early Years Practitioners and are grouped into 4 themes:

A Unique Child

A Unique Child— Every child is a competent learner from birth who can be resilient, capable, confident and self assured,

Positive relationships

Positive Relationships—Children learn to be strong and independent from a base of loving and secure relationships with parent/carer and/or key person.

Enabling Environments

Enabling Environments— The environment plays a key role in supporting and extending children's development and learning.

Learning and Development

Learning and Development—Children develop and learn in different ways and at different rates and all areas Learning and Development are equally important and inter-connected.

On leaving the School/Centre all
children will be working towards achieving the Early Learning Goals.
